ANOTHER BEAUTIFUL BOY ARRIVES ........
Introducing Elijah Maximus Jones!--son of Laura Jones.......
Elijah came into this world at 5lbs. 15 oz and is already opening a skeptical baby blue eye to see who this stranger is in his nursery......
With proud mama, Laura, who is relishing her new role of motherhood............
Elijah has his little mittens on so that he won't scratch himself. He looks like a little prize fighter!
Because his coloring is so much like my little Francesca's was at birth--golden brown hair, fair complexion and blue eyes--I combed his hair like I used to comb the little Poopette. Laura called it a Mohawk!
A proud Grandma, Hyda.........
Sleep well sweet prince, you have a wonderful life ahead...................

ANOTHER CUTIE-PATOOTIE FROM THE RIO GRANDE ZOO......
Zookeeper Kelly sent this suite of photos of an adorable Binturong--a native of the Rainforest of Asia and Indonesia...........
Classified as a carnivore--even though it mostly feeds on bugs and berries, the binturong is the only "carnivore" with a prehensile tail.........
Zookeeper Kelly says that this cute little creature has a body odor just like buttered popcorn. They are endangered because they are so domesticatable.
The babies are taken from their mom after the first nursing because the mother will devote all her attention to only one baby--ignoring up to five other babies. Although they are supposed to be nocturnal, Pattie spends some of her volunteer hours just playing with her hoping to wear her out so that she will take a daytime nap. Thanks for the photos girls!

TOPAZ RECOVERS..........

Topaz continues to recuperate after her injury. She sometimes needs to be separated from her rambunctious little sister Tallulah to insure steady healing......
She is however feeling much better and is mad at us because we won't let her go outside.

GOODBYE TO DOROTHY PARK........
Dorothy Park, my dance teacher for most of my youth, passed away on February 22, 2008 at age 94. Dorothy was an incredible influence in my life--and that of many young women in Santa Fe--because of her talent, creativity, and most especially, her generosity of spirit.
I tried to photograph some of the astonishing photos from the display at her memorial services to demonstrate the wide sweep of her life and accomplishments, but unfortunately, my photos are a very pale copy of the originals. This is baby Dorothy with her mother--who lived with Dorothy for the last twenty years of her life and who passed away at 100.
An adorable and precocious child.....
A demure and appealing ingenue.......
In her dancing days..............
We prepare for her services--time to say "Goodbye"....
Four of her dancing students at the memorial--Onnie, Jean, Tina and myself......
Picture from happier days--one of our summertime reunions on Dorothy's patio--Gina, myself, Michelle, Alice, Tina & Sylvia. All of us have been deeply inspired by having Dorothy in our lives. May she rest in peace--she has touched many, many lives......
