The main aisle of the Cathedral--the altar looks finished now with the sage painting and glories painted around the Florentine crucifix.
Up close.............

New angels painted around the altar--along with stenciling patterns and faux stone banding. This angel has a lantern.
This one has a hearlder's horn....

A green angel with a Renaissance style musical instrument....
A red angel with an incenseor......
The purple string section.....
Another blue horn player.....

A view of some of the stenciling around the altar.....
La Conquistadora's altar screen has been re-gilded.....

And the Spanish style crucifix in her chapel has been updated too...
With a long flowing wig. (JESUS CHRIST, SUPERSTAR)........
In the knave of the church, all the painting is finished..........
This ancient cross was taken off the roof of the Cathedral because it was damaged and ready to fall after 100 hundred years looking down on the city of Santa Fe.
This is the new replacement cross--soon to be hoisted upon the roof.
The difference between the two is marked..............
I blessed the cross and touched it with my hand. I probably won't get to do that again for another 100 years. I also kissed the cross, so there might be some sunny coral lipstick a'shinning down on Santa Fe in the morning sun too.
Some words of wisdom stenciled under the choir loft.....
On the way home, I noticed a flock of doves surrounding St. Francis outside of City Hall.....

These little fellows have been making appearances all over town this week as part of an anti-war protest......
Each dove is marked with news photos and stories about the war...........

Spring has come to Santa Fe...............
