MARDI GRAS--2013
And adopt the spirit of Old New Orleans....
And we're off to the Elks Club for a Mardi Gras Party Royale.....
Sponsored by the Santa Fe Democratic Party--and organized--in a large part--by our own Francesca!
Soon the place is jumping.....
Dwight poses near an area that I helped decorate. I regret that I did not get more photos of the elaborate decorations--especially in the ballroom. The boxes and boxes of Mardi Gras decorations were shared by a local family that for many years sponsored a huge Mardi Gras party in their home for hundreds of Santa Fesanos and who now are the main patrons of this annual Party fundraiser.....
a close up of my Mardi Gras hat.....
And the frenzy commences.....
Some of the table decor--the next batch of photos are courtesy of the County Democratic Web Site...
Ladies and Gents who party hardy.....
Dancing to Lumbre del Sol......
Frannie munching on some of the Mardi Gras fare--prepared by the same generous patrons. It included gumbo served on rice, salad, dirty rice and red beans and scrumptious desserts--all prepared by true Mardi Gras aficionados.....
A hint of the magical decor in the ballroom.....
More lfolks from the Party who know how to party.....
And were even awarded these groovy crowns as "King and Queen of Mardi Gras". I think the top of the crown is supposed to be crushed down to a rounded dome, but I like them this way--we look like the Coneheads on the old SNL.......
It's great to be Queen!--even if it's "Queen of the Coneheads"........
So we hope all you Gentle Readers celebrated Mardi Gras to your heart's content because life is way, way too short--and Lent is way, way too long! AND A GRAND TIME WAS HAD BY ALL!!
