GOOD BYE TO OUR MEI-TOY

SIXTEEN

YEARS OLD

Today we say goodbye to our longest enjoyed pet--our little Mei-Toy.  We knew her from the day she was born--New Year's Eve 1997--born to Arlene's little Duchess.

 Despite being such a cutie pie, she proved to be as brave and valiant a spirit as we have ever known. It was three weeks ago today that the vet told us that she had the renal functions of a "dead dog" and didn't think she would live.  She battled on and I love Dwight so much for his devoted care of our little girl --cooking anything for her that he thought she might enjoy and feeding her water and broth with a syringe as she got worse. She maintained her dignity and her title as alpha-pet to the end.

     I am attaching two photos of Mei Toi--in one she is on one of her last walks up the driveway.  She stopped and looked back at us like she was waiting for us.  I think that that is what she is doing in heaven and we have to be so good so that we can join her, Midori and all our wonderful pets once more. 

 

The other photo is one Giano took at Fort Marcy Park less than a week ago.  When she was too weak to go on walks anymore, he put one of the huge cushions in a wheelbarrow and wheeled her around the park in her little "walking coat" once more--such kindness is never forgotten. 

OUR HEART'S ARE BROKEN, BUT WE ARE SO PROUD OF OUR LITTLE FIGHTER--SHE MADE IT TO SPRING.

 RIP and we will meet again.
