SPANISH MARKET 2013
Santa Fe Spanish Market! We brought back that darling "San Francisco Treat"--the beautiful Baby Binks who gets to enjoy......
All the beautiful artwork.....
And to meet the talented artists.......
Who are happy to explain their traditional and contemporary crafts.......
Like Julia with her award-winning traditional crewel embroidery......
She had already sold the piece in the photo above, but other buyers are interested in her other wares...
Like the La Paloma Scarf.....
Spanish Market Postcard girls......
Gwen is up from Albuquerque wearing her Albuquerque Horse Show T-Shirt and braving the gaze of a fearsome demon in the Contemporary Market.....
Speaking of "fearsome" look at this spirit beast from the Contemporary Market.....
Here is another beast--this is a huge installation--it is really one large metal table with spirits in each corner and a live aspen tree growing in the middle.....
Que bonita--the volunteers.............
And a saucy little woman too.............
This artist explained her choices in depicting the investiture of San Ildefonso in her bulto......
And then there were three.............
This is the grand prize winner of the 2013 market--a massive hide painting depicting the Pueblo Revolt of 1680 by the brilliant Jose Ramon Lopez......
This portion has a dog that resembles Solange.....
This shot gives you an idea of the magnitude of the piece. Because there were always folks crowding around, I didn't get a totally complete shot..........
Another of our favorites--the impressionist extraordinaire, Miss Judy...........
What ever happened to "the customer is always right"?............
And then there were four.............
An awesome San Miguel......
The straw applique master, Miss Martha and her equally talented hubby.....
Next year, her cross will be on the Market poster.....
Yet another attempt to capture the "Aunt Belle Magic" shot--this time in Martha's beautiful mirror.....
Long live the Class of 1967............
More outstanding straw art...........
Martha's baby sister and her equally beautiful creations.......
A smiling Clarence Median and some of his outstanding paintings......
His gracious wifey and the inside of the booth....
And the mad scramble to get all the artwork inside before the cloudburst......
Banquita couldn't have found a better booth to wait out the storm......
A very exquisite couple of pieces for the parlor.....
After a grand time at the Market, I returned home with one new piece of art--the ultra modern black and white painting on my living room wall, by one of my favorite former students--Tommy Romero. He has a very unique style and his booth was a happenin' place. I won this piece in the Market Association Silent Auction. AND A GREAT TIME WAS HAD BY ALL.................
