Leaving our motel room in the wee hours of the morning in anticipation of Dwight's Heart Valve Replacement surgery.......
Dwight made it through the surgery, but was painted green with
antiseptic for a few days.....
Lovelace Medical Center--Dwight's room is highlighted on the ninth floor. He had planned to be here for about a week, but due to two episodes of collapsed lung, he was here for two weeks.....
Out his window in Cardiac Intensive Care, Shelley's workplace at the Contagious Disease Center is visible. Shelley visited her uncle every day before entering the confines of her hospital.

Binks arrived from San Francisco to add her support.....
Dwight was at times connected to 15
intra-
venous bags, three monitors, three drainage pumps and the
respirator.....
But slowly, he was getting better....
Binky fields some of the many calls from well-wishers that brightened
everyone's spirits......
Dwight's up in a chair now....
Goodbye to
Binks as she returns home....
Dwight's first walk outside of the hospital--in his hospital gown....
