REMEMBERING ST. KATHERINE DREXEL..
We attend a most unique event at the old Immaculate Heart of Mary Seminary where in this gorgeous old New Mexican room with a view of the Santa Fe foothills........
We meet with lots of friends and fellow parishioners to spend a day learning about the only
Saint to have actually have a lifetime connection to Santa Fe as founder of St. Catherine's Indian School.......
We meet in the dinning room for a very delicious breakfast........
Thoroughly enjoyed by Miss Alice...........
And then meet in an adjoining room for presentations on the life of St. Katherine and reminisces from former students from St. Kate's. Among them was Joe Abeyta who's father was an early graduate and a friend of the Saint......
Seal of the Archdiocese....
Mid way through the program, we took a stroll to the Carmelite Monastery next door....
Where one of the non-cloistered nuns gave us a very informative lecture on the history of the Sisters of Mount Carmel.( This is ME, not a holy nun--cloistered or not)......
After the programs, we enjoy a fabulous gourmet lunch.......
Even though Sisi is sad that Father John (behind her in this photo) will be leaving........
She somehow manages to still enjoy her lunch--down to the last bite..........
On my walk home, I revel in the beauty of a gorgeous Santa Fe spring!--here along "the Camino"--Camino del Monte Sol......
On my walk I photographed lots of interesting gates.....
And lovely homes.......
So here is my tribute to my hometown in the springtime....
Along the Acequia Madre..........
I actually lived behind this gate on Plaza Balantine when I was a young girl and newlywed. At that time it was the gate to a courtyard off of our kitchen, it is now the front gate to a single residence in the newly configured (and hardly recognizable) property.
Such is springtime in Santa Fe.....
So thank you to St. Katherine Drexel for your service to the Indian people and to Santa Fe and for affording us this wonderful day dedicated to you and your good works.............
