After courageously battling cancer for sometime--even victoriously rebounding from losing a leg--Gretsky had to be put to sleep last week because the cancer had come back in force and her quality of life was totally compromised. Giano took her for one last visit to her friends, a long walk in the mountains and treated her to a diet of steak for the last few days.
