There's a great excitement on Guadalupe Street today!
It's the Feast of The Assumption of Our Blessed Mother into Heaven and a fitting day for the unveiling of the new bronze figure of Our Lady of Guadalupe.
What are all these Knights of the Church viewing?
As well as these Aztec dancers?.......
Mass is being celebrated at the foot of the hill where half of the huge crowd has gathered....
At Communion time, the Knights proceed with dignity to receive communion....
As well as this Princessa and soldado.....
And the faithful on the top of the hill do as well.........
After Mass, the drummers signal the procession up the hill for the unveiling.....

There is dancing on the part of the Aztecs....
In joyful recognition of the vision to the Indian Juan Diego long ago.....
The Archbishop is pretty jazzed up about it too!.....
And Miss Hyda is in her full regalia--her skirt had a rendition of Our Lady of Guadalupe painted on it and that is a feathered rattle for dancing....
Santa Fe's Fiesta Queen was also in procession....

As was the true Queen of Santa Fe--La Conquistadora--bringing a floral tribute to the cities' newest iconic Marian figure, Our Lady of Guadalupe!
She was carried high above the crowd by the Caballeros De Vargas.....
And now under her watchful eve, the unveiling commences.....
At last, the figure is exposed for all to see!!

The faithful rejoice--this has been a long and costly goal for this small parish and it has finally been accomplished with the help, prayers, and sacrifices of the parishioners!

There is a crush to see her and to leave flowers at her feet!
Balloons and mariachi music celebrate this special moment.....
On cue from our friend Gloria Olivas, about fifty children simultaneously let go of their hellium balloons .....
And they soar into the summer sky....
Revealing a giant rosary with a shinning mylar cross!

Everyone expresses their devotion in his or her own manner.....
And the clouds that had produced brief showers during mass open up and bathe the crowd with light
It is a special gift from nature on such a special day!
This is a day few in the crowd will ever forget!
Congratulations to Guadalupe Parish for this accomplishment that will grace the entire Santa Fe Community for years to come!
