MORE HIGH TIMES AT EL RANCHO DE LAS GOLONDRINAS.....

Even though it is spring, today is a very cold day--in fact, if you look closely, there are snowflakes blowing about in this photo.  But since it is Spanish Colonial Days at Rancho de las Golondrinas, we know we will have many , many visitors as lots of schools are bringing their students on field trips.....
When I get there, some of the crewel embroidery folks are already busy at work....

And I have the good fortune to work with my darling friend, Margurite today.....

Knowing it was going to be a cold day, I am wrapped in layers of wool--none of which I intend to take off especially since I got an outdoor assignment..........

We are being assigned to this area to demonstrate the threshing of corn on the matates with the mano to make flour for masa.....
We are situated next to the tanning shed.....

And soon Edward is busy explaining the intricacies of tanning to the kids....
And then they are on to our section to thresh the corn--don't anybody tell them that this is "work"....
Because some of them are quite good at it.....
And they all seem to enjoy it!  This particular group came all the way from Farmington....
One of the highlights of the day was seeing Emily who was chaperoning the field trip for her son's class...
A few weeks later on a bright sunny morning, I'm all fancied up because at the Spring Festival, I am going to be working with folks helping them don old-time Spanish colonial duds.  What follows is a group of wonderfully adorable children and a few adults having a lot of fun....

The Baca House.....

These folks came all the way from Las Cruces in period clothing to enjoy the living museum.....

 A JOSEPHINA look alike....

So if you are looking for a fun ,historically interesting activity, join us at Rancho de las Golondrinas--open Wednesday through Sunday, and you might get to see some of the most adorable children in New Mexico.....
