We woke up early to explore the town of Sulphur before the family picnic....
Unfortunately, the Barber Shop was not open.....

But we did find some humongous thrift shops along the strip that was once the heart of Sulphur....

A bubbling sulphur spring--one of many that attracted visitors by the thousands in the early 20th century......

Some of the CCC stone workmanship in the Recreation Area where we are meeting.....

The family starts to gather--that long, long table was soon loaded with many dishes for a feast extraordinaire......
Dwight helps Joh cross a stream......

The first leaves of autumn are starting to fall in Oklahoma.....
Blankets and chairs make for easy socializing.....
And the crystal clear brook babbles on.....

The Capshaws work up an appetite throwing horseshoes.....
Uncle Louie samples the biscuits......
Cousins reminisce.....

Danny Capshaw.......
The glamour girls from OK City arrive.....
Leisurely conversation by the water's edge........
A riparian pose.......
Susan from Texas.........
Miss Rachel--soon to relocate to the Big Apple.......
Dwight with his uncle and aunt............
He is enjoying reconnecting with his Oklahoma roots.......
Miss Emily--a recent OU graduate...........
Debra--Dwight's cousin closest to his own age...........
One of the treasures I inherited by marrying into this family--Aunt Joh........
Capshaw men.............
A hug to remember..........
Early in the celebration, a fantastic find arrived in this box...........
Our beautiful baby Winston! Of course, he didn't have that name then--scroll way down to the entries from late October/early November to get the whole Kitty Saga.....
We tried to feed him with an eyedropper because his little mouth was so little--he was only one week old at the time............
But he soon moved on to bottles......
And stole our hearts forever.......
Mona and Sarah......
We loved cuddling by the stream.....
David........
After lunch, the partying continues....

And the family stories are re-told........
Sarah is thinking though that it is time for serious picture-taking......
She manages to get everyone involved in moving tables and organizing the portraits.......
First, Aunt Sybil......
Then Uncle Louie......
And of course, our Aunt Joh......
This is Sybil's family (at least all that attended the reunion)

This is Joh's family in attendance........

This is Louie's family in attendance........

This is Smokey's family in attendance......

And this is Calvin's family in attendance.......
Sarah has some other groupings in mind.........Thank heavens for Sarah, she is the catalyst that gets these reunions going and the glue that cements all the factions of the family together.
Now, the generational groupings--first the elders--the wise men and women of the family.....

Now Dwight's generation of cousins and sibilings......
Now the younger happening generation...........
And the sole great grandbaby in attendance.................
This kind Park Ranger is assisting with the final shot........................
The entire family Capshaw in attendance! Click on the image to enlarge the photo.

It soon was time for final good-byes.......

To this lovely Oklahoma scenery......
But we are leaving with fond memories--and a certain precious someone in the box.......
Thanks to Joh and everyone in the family for the fun and the abundance of love.......
And we hope to return some day to Oklahoma and to another fabulous Capshaw Family Reunion!!
